About

Forschungszentrum Jülich focuses on use-inspired, basic research. It rises to the challenges of the present and does research for a future worth living. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, Forschungszentrum Jülich is among the major interdisciplinary research centres in Europe. The Jülich Supercomputing Center (JSC, https://www.fz-juelich.de/jsc) at Forschungszentrum Jülich operates supercomputers of the highest performance class as well as matching storage of multiple technologies and data services. JSC furthermore pursues an ambitious research program that includes research on future HPC system architectures to enable the scientist and engineers to solve their highly complex problems. Currently, about 200 experts are working at JSC across all the domains of supercomputing and simulation science.

Datacube Offering

As part of the DeepRain project JSC combines radar data, high-resolution topographic data, and ensemble forecast data from a numerical weather model and employs state-of-the-art information processing technology as well as advanced statistics for the evaluation of the new forecasts. JSC provides a growing part of meteorological reanalysis data from the German Weather Service (DWD) to the EarthServer federation.
